Komodo dragons are skilled hunters who can take down large animals like deer. They do this by biting their prey with a powerful venom, then follow them while they wait for the poison to take them down.

There is a misconception that Komodo dragons use strong bacteria in their mouths to poison their prey, but it’s only partly true, as the bacteria work with a neurotoxic venom in their saliva.
