Throughout the films, he goes to increasingly desperate lengths to find his beloved acorn to disastrous results.
He was only intended to be in the opening scene of the film so that there would be a snow scene earlier in the movie, but he was so popular with test audiences that they decided to include him more.

Manny the wooly mammoth is the leader of the herd and a character that everyone looks up to. The filmmakers wanted someone with a strong voice and considered actors like James Earl Jones, the voice of Darth Vader and Mufasa.
They eventually decided on comedian Ray Romano whose voice had the sarcastic tone they wanted for the character.

Throughout the movies, Scrat’s mission is to safely eat his acorn, but he never gets to achieve that goal.
That was until a video posted by Blue Sky Studios, the studio responsible for the first five films, showed him finally getting to eat his acorn.
The short scene was made as a farewell to the character after the studio shut down.
18. Scrat Hanging From A Branch
Poor Scrat finds himself in some perilous situations in his quest to find his acorn. He is a combination of different types of extinct mammals and is described as a saber-toothed squirrel.
His name was the idea of the daughter of one of the writers of the film who combined the words ‘squirrel’ and ‘rat’ to make his name.

Even though he messes up a lot, Sid the Sloth is a good guy at heart and friendly to most characters he meets.
His voice actor, John Leguizamo, tried out around 40 voices for the character before settling on the lispy voice he is known for. He chose this voice because he found out that sloths keep food in their cheeks.
