Valentine’s Monster Box

What fun would Valentine’s Day be without a nifty Valentine’s Box?? I was so excited when my preschooler got a special assignment at preschool to use his creativity to make a valentine’s box with his Mom. I asked him what it was he wanted to make and he told me he wanted a furry green monster with big teeth and big eyes. All we needed was some felt, fun fur yarn, pom-poms, wiggly eyes and pipe cleaners, this is what our creativity came up with:

Two hairy monsters ready for a yummy Valentine’s feast! Since my preschooler’s box was such a hit with my toddler we had to make him one too. My favorite part was adding little heart and flower jewels as eyelashes (You’ll have to click on the picture to really see them).

OMG these are so adorable. I am always on the look out for new things to do for Valentine's Day. I am on my 24th year of teaching Preschool and am always stumped on what to make anymore. I do have a question I have never seen this yarn before. I did do a web search and saw all the wonderful colors. Exactly how does it come and how did you adhere it to your box to make it look so poofy (is that a word, lol)? Shoe boxes are hard to come by these days so do you think it will work on bags? What are the eyes made out of? Is the box bottom covered with felt? Sorry for all the questions. I love your blog it is a ray of sunshine, thank you for brightening our classroom with your wonderful crafts. God Bless. Mrs. Valerie in sunny So Cal
