Stained Glass Glitter Butterfly Kids Craft

Our weather has been fabulous here in Utah, reminiscent of spring time already, so we decided to get crafty for Spring by making this Stained Glass Glitter Butterfly. It is hanging up on my daughter’s bedroom window for her to enjoy during the day with the sunlight shining through.

Supplies you will need:

Directions:
1. Start by folding your cardstock paper in half and cutting out the half shape of a butterfly. When you unfold it you’ll have a full butterfly shape.
2. Fold your butterfly back in half and draw markings with a pencil of where you want to cut out the inside of the wings. Use your craft knife to make a slit big enough to put your scissors into, and then use your scissors to cut out all the sections of the wings.
3. Remove the backing from a section of contact paper and lay your butterfly down on top of it. Sprinkle your glitter all over your butterfly wings however you’d like and then shake off any access into a trash can. My daughter also wanted to add some circles inside her wings so I had those laid out for her, along with the glitter.
4. Peel the backing off of another piece of contact paper and lay it onto the glitter butterfly (sticky side down) to seal in all the glitter. Cut around your butterfly with scissors. At this point we also cut out some antennae and taped them to the back of the butterfly.
Now tape it up onto a window and enjoy the sunlight shining through onto your beautiful glitter wings.
