How to Draw A Halloween Cat – Let’s Get Started!

Step 1

how to draw a Halloween Cat step 1
As we mentioned in the introduction to this guide on how to draw a Halloween cat, cats are traditionally considered to be the familiar of choice for witches.

For this reason, we will be giving this spooky cat a cool witch’s hat. This hat is also what we shall start with in this first step of the guide.

First, draw a squared shape for the buckle of the belt around it, and then draw the straps of the belt.

You can then use some curved lines with pointy ends for the rim of the hat, and then you can use more curved and twisty lines for the pointy tip of the hat curling over.

Step 2 – Now, draw the face of this cat

You’ve completed the witch hat for this Halloween cat drawing, and in this second step we shall be drawing the ears of the cat.

You can use some curved lines with pointy tips to add the triangular ears onto the hat. Then, draw some more triangular shapes inside the ear outlines.

Then, use some curved and pointy lines for the furry outline of the head, and then draw some large and expressive eyes.

Lastly, draw the small nose and then add some curved lines for the mouth below it.

You can then finish off this step by drawing some whiskers poking off, and then we can proceed to the third step of the guide.

Step 3 – Draw the front legs of this cat

how to draw a Halloween Cat step 3
For this third step of our guide on how to draw a Halloween cat, we will be drawing the front legs.

First, extend some long, curved lines coming down from the base of the head. These will start fairly close together and then extend outward a bit.

Use some small rounded lines at the base of these legs for the toes of the paws, and finally draw some more inverted curved lines on the inner edges for the other sides of the legs.

Once you have it looking as it does in our reference image, we will be ready for the fourth step!

Step 4 – Next, draw the back legs of the Halloween cat

Now you are ready to finish off the final outlines for the body of your Halloween cat drawing before we move on to the last details and elements in the next step of the guide.

To do this, we will focus on drawing the back legs of the cat poking off to the sides.

Use some curved lines that extend out and then in again, starting from the sides of the front legs that you drew previously.

Once you have drawn these thighs, you can then add some more little paws onto the ends of these legs. Then you’ll be ready for those final details in the next step!

Step 5 – Add the final details to your Halloween cat drawing

You’ve been doing a great job on this guide on how to draw a Halloween cat! This fifth step will be all about adding the final elements to get you ready for the final step of the guide.

You will also have the opportunity to add some extra details and ideas of your own! Before that, this Halloween cat needs a tail to really finish it off.

To add this tail, we will be adding a curved and twisty shape onto the left-hand side.

Once this is drawn, you can add any other details of your own!

These could include some cool background details such as some Halloween bats, pumpkins or any other classic Halloween symbols you can think of! How will you finish off this Halloween cat?

Step 6 – Finish off your Halloween cat drawing with color

This final step of your Halloween cat drawing will be all about finishing up with some amazing colors!

When it comes to spookiness for cats, you will most often see black cats used as they are traditionally known to be bringers of bad luck.

This may be a reputation that is somewhat unearned in real life, but nevertheless we have chosen it for the color scheme of this Halloween cat! We used different shades of blacks and dark greys for the fur of the cat.

For some contrast, we used bright yellows for the eyes as well. Purple is a common Halloween color, and for that reason we used it for the witch’s hat it is wearing.

Will you go for a similar color scheme, or do you have a different one in mind for this Halloween cat?
