How to Draw A Realistic Heart – Let’s Get Started!

Step 1how to draw a realistic heart step 1

There are lots of small parts that we will be drawing throughout this guide on how to draw a realistic heart, so for this first step we will be keeping things a bit simple.

For now, we shall be drawing the outline of the base of the heart, and this is the area that houses the ventricles. To do this, we will be drawing a curved line that points downward.

This line will be thick and smooth, but it will also have a bit of bumpiness to it. Try your best to replicate the line as it appears in our reference image, and then we can move on to step 2.

Step 2 – Now, draw some more sections of the realistic hearthow to draw a realistic heart step 2

You have the outline of the base of your realistic heart drawing done, so now we can start to add some of the more intricate parts.

As mentioned, the heart is divided up into a few different sections and parts, and the ones that we will be drawing now will go near the top.

For the first part, we will be drawing a rounded shape with a thin portion at the base on the upper left side of the heart.

This shape will look almost like an upside-down lemon. Finally, finish off this step by drawing some more curved lines for the portions on the upper right-hand side of the heart.

There will be some empty spaces there, but we will fill those in as we move on.

Step 3 – Start drawing some of the aortaehow to draw a realistic heart step 3

Hearts have many different chambers and tube-like structures for pumping blood in and out of it.

We will be drawing the main part facilitating these pipes, called the aorta, in this third step of our guide on how to draw a realistic heart.

Use some curved lines to draw a small pipe coming off the top left-hand side of the heart.

Then, for the aorta we will use more rounded lines for another section that has two smaller pipes extending from it. Draw one more thick pipe coming out to the right, and then we can move to step 4.

Step 4 – Next, draw some veins on the hearthow to draw a realistic heart step 4

You have completed the outlines of your realistic heart drawing, so for these next few steps we shall focus on adding the final details and touches.

Hearts have many thick veins on them, and we shall start drawing some of these veins on the surface of the heart.

To draw these veins, we will be using some thick lines. Each vein will start with a single line and then branch off into many more.

We will be adding three branches of these veins of varying sizes throughout the heart, but you could add more if you wish.

Then you will be ready for the final touches in the next step!

Step 5 – Add the final details to your realistic heart drawinghow to draw a realistic heart step 5

We will be adding a lot more detail to the heart to prepare you for the final step of this guide on how to draw a realistic heart.

To do this, we will be adding some curved liens along the pipes and then some more lines near most of the inner perimeter of the outlines.

These lines help to make the heart look more textured and realistic, and you should try your best to get these lines looking as they do in our reference image.

Once you have finished these final details, be sure to add some of your own! Maybe you could draw some more organs or even label the different parts of the heart. What will you do to finish off before the final step?

Step 6 – Finish off your realistic heart drawing with colorhow to draw a realistic heart step 6

This is the final step of your realistic heart drawing, and in it we shall finish off by coloring it in.

We used various shades of pink to give a fleshy appearance to the various parts of the heart.

You could go for some similar color tones if you would like your drawing to look like our example, but feel free to also use some colors of your own!

We would recommend using some watercolor paint, as this would make it look more like a textbook diagram. You could use any other mediums, however, and anything you choose will look amazing!
