How to Draw A Cartoon Nose – Let’s get Started!
Step 1
When drawing tricky facial features such as this one, you can make things much easier when you break it down into individual lines and shapes.
That is exactly what we will be doing for you in this guide on how to draw a cartoon nose!
These lines may look simple, and while they are technically simple you should still try to take it slowly and follow the example closely.
To begin, we will draw a curved line that will form the bridge and the tip of the nose.
This line has a rather specific form, so that’s why we would advise closely following the reference image! Once it is drawn, we can move on to step 2.
Step 2 – Draw another line for the nose
Continuing with this cartoon nose drawing, we will now extend the curved line you began in the previous step.
This will not only make up the base of the nose, but will extend into the start of the nostril on the right as well.
Once again, this new line also has a specific angle and shape to it, and the curve for the start of the nostril is especially important to get right.
There’s no hurry, so take your time with it to make sure it’s looking great! Then, it will be time for step 3 of this guide.
Step 3 – Now, draw the nostril on the left
We began the nostril on the right in the previous step, but before we finish it off we will first add the outline for the one on the left now.
Because of the angle this nostril is at, it will look a bit different to how the one on the right will.
Simply add a rounded shape jutting out from the left-hand edge of the nose, and then you will have your outline! It’s as simple as that, and then we can proceed.
Step 4 – Add the other nostril
This step of your cartoon nose drawing will be based around adding the outline of the other nostril.
As we mentioned in the previous step, this one will be shaped differently to the first one because of the angle it is at.
It will be larger than the first one and will be more rounded as well.
As shown in the reference image, it will surround the curvy line that extends into the nostril that we drew in step 2, so the placement is quite important for this on.
Once drawn, we will add the final details and elements in the next step of the guide!
Step 5 – Now, you can add the nostrils
A nose wouldn’t be very useful without some nostrils, so we will add some now! This will also be a simple step to finish off the final details of this guide on how to draw a cartoon nose.
In order to draw the nostril holes, simply add some curved lines underneath the curved lines of the nostrils that you drew previously.
Once these are drawn, that’s all there is to it! It can also be fun to get creative and add some details of your own, too.
These could include smaller facial details around the nose such as freckles, but you could even add some more facial features such as eyes or a mouth!
These are a few ideas, but what else can you think of?
Step 6 – Finish off your drawing with some color
You have arrived at the final step of this guide, and now we can finish off with some color! There are many different skin tones and colors you could go for when coloring, and it’s all up to you.
As you can see in our reference image, we did not simply use one color for the nose. Instead, we used various shades to give the impression of shading and shape for the nose.
We used the lightest shades near the center of the nose, and then made it gradually darker the further out it gets.
This is a technique that you could use no matter what color scheme you go for! You can also try out different mediums.
We think that watercolors would be perfect, but there are many others that would look equally great!
Do this to take your cartoon nose drawing to the next level
Make your cartoon nose sketch look even better with these 4 ideas we have for you to try!
This drawing of a nose shows a pretty standard nose. Noses can come in many shapes, sizes and variations, so you could change it in a few ways to make it more personalized.
This could include some of the aspects we mentioned, but you could also change something such as the skin tone or color.
You could base the nose off of your own nose or the nose of someone you know.
Or, you could go by your imagination and make it totally unique!
Once you have the look and shape you want for your cartoon nose, you could then add some extra details to it.
There are quite a few details you could go for, and you could again look to real noses around you for inspiration.
These could include moles, pimples or some distinct nostril details. Or, you could add accessories such as a nose ring to make it even more distinct.
What are some other details you could add?
Another way that you could make this cartoon nose drawing even more fun would be to turn it into a proper cartoon character! This could be as simple as adding some cartoony eyes and some limbs.
These details and additions could be simple, but you could still create some fun poses and scenarios by doing so.
If you do this, you could also add props and additional elements to make it even more fun!
Finally, it would also be cool to draw the rest of the face that this cartoon nose sketch is a part of.
Once again, this could be based on a real person’s face if you want to create a caricature version of someone.
It could merely be the eyes, mouth and other surrounding elements, or you could draw the entirety of the person’s head. If you were to draw a real person’s head, who would you choose to portray?
