How to Draw Cartoon Monster – Let’s Get Started!
Step 1
This is a really cool design that we will be creating in this guide, and we will begin with the head and horns in this first step of your cartoon monster drawing.
The head is what we will start with, and it can be started with a simple curved line. This will then have some pointy lines at the top of the head for a tuft of hair.
Then, we will draw some large curved horns on the sides of the head. These will be large and thick, and they will extend from some curved bases.
Finally, add some small round ears beneath the horns and then draw some texture lines on them.
Step 2 – Now, draw some more of the face and add the arms
We will be adding quite a lot in this second step of our guide on how to draw a cartoon monster! This step will begin with a single large eye.
This will be a rounded shape that you can draw free-hand, as it doesn’t need to be a perfect circle. It will also have some curved lines above and below it.
The curved line above it will also have a pointy tuft of fur above it for a sort of eyebrow.
Finally, we will add some thick, short and rounded arms on the sides. Each of these will have some fur details with large, pointy claws at the ends.
Finish off with another curved line for the cheek, and then we can continue.
Step 3 – Next, draw the mouth and some of his chest
This monster is really starting to come together now! In this step, we will be drawing his mouth and his chest. Starting with his mouth, this will be a curved line beneath the eye.
It will have a thick lip that you can draw with a curved line, and there will also be a large chin beneath it. We will then finish off this mouth by adding some large, pointy teeth to the mouth.
The chest and back will then be drawn using some simple curved lines with some equally simple details inside.
Step 4 – Now, draw his legs
You can start adding the legs to your cartoon monster drawing in this fourth step of the guide.
The legs will be drawn using some fairly simple curved lines, and there will be several smaller pointy parts poking off the sides.
Then, the feet will be quite flat with some rounded toes.
You’ll notice that the foot on the right has a small gap in it, and the reasoning for that will become clear in the next step where we will add the final details!
Step 5 – Add the final details to your drawing
In this part of our guide on how to draw a cartoon monster, we will be adding some final details and touches to get you ready for the final step.
This will also be a step where you can add some extra details and ideas of your own! First, we will give this awesome monster a tail.
This will be drawn using some more curved lines, and it will also curl inwards. The end of the tail will have some tufted fur, and this will cover the space that was left over in the previous step.
Finally, draw some rounded triangular spikes onto the tail to finish it off! Now it’s time for you to add any extra details that you may like for this monster.

Step 6 – Finish off your drawing with color
It’s time to finish off this monster with some color! Because this is an imaginary design, that means that you can use any colors you can imagine for him.
In our reference image, we went with a primarily red color scheme to give him a warm look. We changed up the shades and intensities of the colors to really give him some depth and texture.
This is our interpretation of this monster, but as we mentioned you could go for any other colors you may prefer!
There are also lots of different art tools and mediums that you can play around with, so there is a lot of room for you to show off your creativity.
