How to Draw A Cartoon Fire – Let’s Get Started!

Step 1how to draw a cartoon fire step 1

When you’re creating a fire in real life, you need various materials to create a fire that is effective and safe.

We will be drawing some of these materials for this cartoon fire drawing, and the first of these will be some rocks.

When building a campfire, rocks can often be piled around the perimeter of the fuel source to help keep it contained.

In this first step, we will be drawing two larger rocks with some smaller ones laying around them.

These larger rocks will be quite large and angular, and they will be rather detailed as well. Once you have drawn these rocks and stones, we can move on to step 2!

Step 2 – Now, draw some more rockshow to draw a cartoon fire step 2

We’re not quite done drawing some rocks in this guide on how to draw a cartoon fire! The few that we have drawn already are a good start, but we need a few more on the right-hand side of the fire.

This time, we will be adding one larger, angular rock that has a few flat sides.

Next, you can draw some more small, equally angular stones underneath this larger rock. It’s as simple as that, and then we can start drawing the fire itself in the next step of the guide!

Step 3 – Next, draw the start of the firehow to draw a cartoon fire step 3

Fire can sometimes be rather tricky to draw, and this is due to the fact that it has no physical form and is constantly flickering.

The way we will get past this challenge will be to draw the fire in various different layers.

These layers will be drawn using shapes made up of lots of curved lines that culminate in some pointy tips.

You could add more or fewer of these pointy pieces depending on how strong you want this fire to look.

At the end of this step, the fire will look like it’s dying out, but we will make it look bigger in the next few steps.

Step 4 – Now, draw the next layers of the firehow to draw a cartoon fire step 4

We shall keep adding some layers to your cartoon fire drawing in this step. The more layers you add to the drawing, the stronger it will look!

The shapes we will be drawing for these next layers will be similarly pointy and curved, but the layers will get slightly thinner as we near the top of the fire.

Once these layers have been added, we will finish off the final layers along with any extra details in the next step of the guide!

Step 5 – Add the final details to your drawinghow to draw a cartoon fire step 5

Before you bring some amazing colors to your incredible artwork, we have a few final details to add in this step of our guide on how to draw a cartoon fire.

We will be adding the final layers of the fire, but these layers will look a little different to the previous ones.

These next layers will be much longer and thinner than any of the previous shapes you have drawn so far.

Once these final layers have been drawn, we will be ready for some coloring fun!

You don’t have to move on just yet though, as you can keep this drawing going with your own awesome details and elements.

One example would be to draw a background. For one idea, you could draw a background showing a campsite setting with people sitting around it.

There are tons of fun details you could add to a composition like that! What other settings can you think of for this cartoon fire?

Step 6 – Finish off your drawing with colorhow to draw a cartoon fire step 6

Now you’re ready to finish off with some coloring fun in the final step of the guide. In our reference image, we show you how we would color this fire.

We used various shades of greys for the stones surrounding the fire. By changing up the shades, you can create a more dynamic image.

Then, for the various layers of the fire itself, we used varying shades of light and dark yellows with some oranges.

You could use similar colors for your own cartoon fire, but don’t be afraid to mix other colors such as reds!

We would recommend using some watercolor paints or colored pencils for this particular drawing as they would help to mimic the softer look of a real fire.

You could even stick small twigs and sticks to the page to give this aspect some texture!

This cartoon fire drawing looks like the kind of fire you would see at a campsite. For this reason, you could create a camp background to finish it off!

There are lots of details you could add to create this effect. For example, you could have some logs surrounding the fire and draw some tents in the background.
