Step 1
One of the most recognizable features of a deer is its antlers, so it’s fitting that we begin with that in this first step of the guide!
The antlers will be drawn using some curved lines that have some rounded branches extending off of them.
These can be surprisingly hard to draw, so take your time with it and follow the reference image closely!
Then, draw some rounded lines for the top of the head, add a small tuft of fur and then you’re ready for step 2!
Step 2 – Next, draw the eyes
For this second step of our guide on how to draw a cartoon deer, we will add the eyes and some facial features.
The eyes are drawn as some small black circles with small white glints in them. Then, we will draw a curvy oval shape around each one and add some little eyelashes coming off.
Finish off with one more rounded shape around each eye and then draw some curved eyebrows.
Step 3 – Now, draw the rest of the head
We are ready to finish off the head and face of your cartoon deer drawing in this third step.
First, draw a rounded triangle shape for the nose, and then use some more curved lines for the smiling mouth beneath it. We will also add some rounded shapes for the cheeks of the face.
The ears will be quite large on the sides of the head, and each one will have a rounded tip at the end. Finish off with the inner ear shape of each one, and then we can move on.
Step 4 – Next, draw the chest and the leg
Moving further down, we will now be adding the start of the body and legs.
For now, we will focus on the neck and chest, and these aspects will be drawn using some curved lines coming down from the base of the head.
Then, you can draw the first front leg. This will be fairly short and thin, and it will end in the hoof shape that has two small tips at the end.
Step 5 – Now, draw another front leg
You’ve drawn one front leg so far, and now you can draw another!
This leg will look very similar to the first one, with the only difference being that there will be some rounded lines at the very top. Finally, add another rounded line for the belly before moving to step 6.
Step 6 – Add the back legs

These will go beneath the belly, and while they look similar to the front legs, they will bend inwards at the top of each one.
Once you have these legs looking as they do in our example, you can draw some final details in the next step!

First, use a curved, rounded line for the back of this deer. Then, we will add several horizontal oval shapes onto the back to add some pattern detail.
