How to Draw A Cartoon Cake – Let’s Get Started!
Step 1
We shall keep things nice and simple for this first step of our guide on how to draw a cartoon cake. In fact, we will not even be drawing the cake itself but rather the plate it is sitting on.
This may look easy, but it can require a bit of a steady hand. It is drawn using a series of curved lines that make an almost flat oval shape.
We will need to draw the cake onto this plate later, though, so be sure to leave a large space at the top.
Then, we will move on to step 2 of the guide!
Step 2 – Now, draw the base of the cake
Now you can start drawing the cartoon cake itself. In doing this, we will start at the base and move up. This will also fill in the space that you left at the top of the plate earlier.
The cake will be rather squared in shape, but the corners will be a bit rounded.
We will also be adding some of the decoration for this portion of the cake, and this will consist of two wavy lines going across the width of the cake.
That’s all there is to it, so let’s move to step 3!
Step 3 – Next, draw the icing on top of the cake
This third step will see you adding the top of the cake and the icing that is covering it. Use some rounded lines for the top surface of the cake as it appears in the reference image.
Be sure to once again leave a large space at the top of the cake! Then, we will draw the icing dropping down from the top.
This can be drawn using several drooping curved lines coming down the side of the cake.
We will then continue adding more details as we proceed!
Step 4 – Now, add some candles to the top of the cake
This must be a birthday cake, as it is covered in candles. We will draw these candles in this fourth step of our guide on how to draw a cartoon cake.
There will be five candles on top of the cake, and you could add more or fewer if you prefer! This would also be a great way to personalize this drawing.
Each candle is a long thin shape that has some wax dripping down from the top. You can also add a small curved line to tip of each one for the wick.
Don’t forget to also add the other edge of the cake in between the candles! Then it’s time to add some final details.
Step 5 – Add the final details to your cartoon cake drawing
We have a really fun step for you before we get to the final step of the guide! In this one, we will be drawing some decorative elements to the cake, and this is one where you can add your own flair and touches.
We kept things pretty simple in our example image, as we added some flames to the wicks of the candles. Then, we added some small circles inside the decoration near the base.
These are the details we added, but you could add many more of your own!
This is your chance to let out your inner fashion designer and show off what you think the perfect birthday cake would look like.
You could do this by adding some sprinkles, icing or other elements like these. Maybe you could write a name onto the cake to turn it into a birthday card for someone!
Step 6 – Finish off your cartoon cake drawing with color
It’s time to finish off this guide on how to draw a cartoon cake with some color! In our reference image, we showed you just one way that you could go about coloring this beautiful drawing.
We used various shades of pinks for the layers of the cake, and this makes it look really tasty! For the candles, we used beige with some orange flames, and then we used a light brown for the plate.
Do you think you will go for similar colors for your own cake or will you try out some unique colors instead?
This could also be a great picture to try out some crafts such as beads and stickers on as well. We can’t wait to see how you finish this one off!
