Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the most popular characters in video games, but while Sonic himself is so recognizable, he has many friends and allies who are also very iconic.
Sonic’s best friend Tails is one of these friends, and he has many fans that would like to learn how to draw Tails.

How to Draw Tails – Let’s Get Started!
Step 1
To get this guide on how to draw Tails, we will start with the spikes of his hair. To draw these, you can draw three sharp shapes like the ones in our reference image.
These will be connected to the top of his head in future steps, so let’s move on to part 2!
Step 2 – Next, draw the head outline for Tails
Now that you have his spiky hair drawn, we will begin the head outline of your Tails drawing in this step.
First, you can use some rounded triangular shapes to draw his big pointy ears. Then, you can use a rounded line for the top of the head and then extend his face down with another curved line.
Finally, draw a small oval for his nose and then draw the bottom of his snout.
Step 3 – Now, draw some facial details for Tails
We will start the facial details of your drawing in this part of your Tails drawing. First, extend a rounded line from his nose for the top of his muzzle.
This will extend to the other side of his head and end in a spike. Then, you can draw his big rounded eyes that will extend halfway up the face.
The eye on the right will have an eyebrow over it to give Tails some attitude! Finally for this step, you can add some spiky shapes on the side of his face for some furry detail.
Step 4 – Next, draw the first arm
You can draw the first arm for your drawing in this step of our guide on how to draw Tails. Tails has a very large gloved hand at the end of his thin arm.
You can use some curved lines to show his finger extending up, and then some more lines that curve over for his other fingers. Finally, you can draw his thin arm extending to under his face.
Step 5 – Now, draw the body and first leg
We will be moving on to the body of your Tails drawing in this next step of our guide. His body is quite round with a furry patch on his chest.
Then, you can extend two lines down from his body for his first leg. Then, following the reference image you can draw his oversized shoe at the end of his leg.
Step 6 – Next, draw some tails
Tails gets his name from a rather distinctive feature he has: the fact that he has two tails! We will be drawing these tails in this step of our guide on how to draw Tails.
Using some curved lines that have some sharp points in them, you can draw the two tipped tails on the left-hand side of Tails.
Once you have his tails drawn, add some more sharply jagged lines inside of the tails for some fur detailing.
Step 7 – Next, draw his other leg
You’ve already drawn one leg for your Tails drawing so far, so this next step should be a breeze for you!
You will be drawing the second leg for Tails in this step, and it will look very similar to the first one that you drew.
The show on this leg will be at a slightly different angle to the first one and will extend outward a bit.
Step 8 – Next, draw the other arm for Tails
It will be time to color in Tails soon, but we have one more aspect to add in this guide on how to draw Tails!
Simply draw an arm and hand on the right-hand side of Tails, and this one will be pointing downward a bit.

To show this, you could draw him running at great speeds and have the background whirring behind him. Or, maybe you would prefer to have him jumping or performing a cool move.
What are some other cool poses you could create in this picture to make it even more dynamic than it is now?
In the games and other media, Tails is joined by a few different allies, and you could add them to this drawing as well. Some classic examples would be Sonic himself or maybe Knuckles.
