How to Draw A Robin – Let’s Get Started!
Step 1
For this first step of our guide on how to draw a robin, we will be starting with the outline and face of the bird. It would be easiest to start with the outline for the body.
The left-hand side will be drawn with a long and curved line, and this will lead into the outline for the head.
We will add some detail to the face and head in a moment, but first we will add the right-hand side of the body. This will be drawn with some bumpier lines than the ones we used for the left-hand side.
Then, you will use a series of longer, curved lines for the branch that the robin is sitting on. Then, once you have these outlines drawn you can add some details to the head and face.
These will include some round shapes for the eyes, and then you can add some sharper detail for the beak.
Step 2 – Start adding some feather detail
In this second part of your robin drawing, we will start to add some subtle feather detail. For the head, we will be using some bumpy line detail extending from the eye and down the head.
Then you can use some curved lines to create the edges of the feathers for the wings. That’s all there is to it for this step and you’re ready to proceed!
Step 3 – Start drawing some details for the chest of the robin
Continuing on from the previous steps, we will start to add some detail to the chest of the robin in this next step.
First, extend another bumpy line down from the shoulder of the bird down and then across the lower chest of the bird.
Then, you will be drawing some sharp and jagged lines down to form a square shape beneath the details that you just drew.
Step 4 – Next, draw the legs and finish off the branch for the robin
The next part of your robin drawing will see you drawing the thin little legs of the robin as well as the branch that it is sitting on.
The legs will be very thin and straight, and each one will end in three little toes curling around the branch.
Speaking of that branch, we will also start to draw it in this part. Using the lines that you already started for it, you can add some more curved lines to finish off the branch.
Then, there will just be a few final details to add in the next step!
Step 5 – Now, you can finish off the tail and final details of your drawing
As we mentioned in the previous step, we have just a few more details to add in this part of our guide on how to draw a robin.
The main aspect of this part will be to add the tail feathers. These will be drawn with two curved lines that have a separating line in the center of the tail.
Then, you can finish off the final details before moving on. First, you can draw some small lines across the legs to give them some texture detail.
Then, you can use some curved lines on the wings to give them even more feather detail.
That will do it for the details in this guide, but before you move on you can also add some details and elements of your own!
