How to Draw A Pretzel – Let’s Get Started!

Step 1how to draw a Pretzel step 1

As we mentioned in the introduction to this guide on how to draw a pretzel, this is a snack that is famous for its complex design.

This may make it intimidating to take on the challenge of trying to learn how to draw it, but we will be breaking it down into smaller steps to make it much easier.

We shall start things off simply for this first step. To begin, all you need to do is draw a curved line that creates a long rounded shape pointing to the left.

This shape will have an empty space at the top of it, and this will connect to other parts of the pretzel later on.

At this moment, it may be hard to see how this shape will factor into the pretzel design, but it will become clearer soon enough!

Step 2 – Now, draw another small section of the pretzelhow to draw a Pretzel step 2

To continue this pretzel drawing, we will be adding another small section to the design. To do this, we shall simply be drawing another rounded shape using a curved line.

This will extend off the side of the section that you drew in the previous step and will extend towards the right-hand side of the page.

Try your best to draw these lines exactly as they appear in our reference image, as their placement will be quite important when adding more of the pretzel.

Step 3 – Draw one of the upper sections of the pretzelhow to draw a Pretzel step 3

With the center drawn, we shall now start drawing one of the upper sections in this step of our guide on how to draw a pretzel. We will also draw one of the lower sections, so let’s start with that.

You can draw this lower section by using two curved lines beneath the two sections you drew in the first two steps. Then, we will be drawing a larger loop of pretzel for the upper section.

This one will extend up from near the edge of the part that’s poking out to the right. It will extend up and around before connecting near the center of the design.

This can get a bit tricky, but if you take it slowly and closely follow the image then you should easily complete this step!

Step 4 – Next, draw the rest of the pretzel outlinehow to draw a Pretzel step 4

This step of your pretzel drawing will see you adding another large loop of the pretzel. This next loop will be going on the left, and it will mirror the upper loop on the right that you just drew.

This means it will start near the section pointing out to the left and will go up and around to connect near the center.

Once you have completed this section, you have finished all of the hard parts! In the next step, we will add some final details to really bring this image to life.

Step 5 – Add the final details to your pretzel drawinghow to draw a Pretzel step 5

Now that the outline of this food is complete, we can finish it off with some final details in this next step of our guide on how to draw a pretzel!

Pretzels will often have small sesame seeds and grains of salt on their surface, and we shall be drawing these details now.

Simply draw some small, teardrop-shaped little shapes onto the surface of the pretzel for these seed details.

You could add even more if you like! By adding some small rounded shapes you could also represent some grains of salt on the surface.

Once it’s finished, you could also take this drawing even further by adding a cool background.

By doing this, you could maybe show what other foods you would like to enjoy with this pretzel. How will you finish it off with your own details?

Step 6 – Finish off your pretzel drawing with colorhow to draw a Pretzel step 6

With the details and elements of this picture now finished, you can complete this pretzel drawing with some color!

Because of the ingredients pretzels are made of and the way that they’re baked, they usually have a darker brown color to them.

This is the color scheme that we went with in our reference image, but even though we kept mostly to brown we were able to create definition by changing up the shades used.

Will you use similar shades to the ones that we did, or do you think you will use some unique choices of your own?

If you drew any background details or other elements, don’t forget to color those in as well!

Do this to take your pretzel drawing to the next level

Experience some fun twists and turns as we make this pretzel sketch even better!

This drawing of a pretzel shows one of these delicious snacks covered with some seeds. This is a classic, standard form for a pretzel, but they can often have other toppings and additions.

Now you can show us what your perfect pretzel would look like as you add some toppings of your own. This could be something sweet like caramel or chocolate, for example.

Or, you could add some simple dots of salt or more seeds for some simpler additions. What kind of topping would you like for this pretzel?

When it comes to pretzels, they can come in large or small forms. This one could be either one of those, but which it is would be up to you!

Let’s first assume that you want it to be the small variety. In that case, you could draw many more pretzels, as if they were tumbling out of a bag.

There could even be a hand to catch them to show that they are smaller.

Next, we will assume that you want this pretzel drawing to show a larger one. If that is the case, there are a few ways you could do that. For example, you could show a hand holding the big pretzel.

Or, you could draw some larger types of food that you would like to eat with a pretzel sitting beside it. What are some other ways to show that this is a large pretzel?

Whether it’s big or small, you could also finish off your pretzel sketch with a background. This would again depend on the form you chose to depict for the pretzel.

A pretzel will often be enjoyed at a carnival or an amusement park, so these could be a good place to start when it comes to background settings.

Of course, this is up to you, and now you can show off where you would like to enjoy a delicious pretzel treat in real life!
