How to Draw A Cartoon Snowflake – Let’s Get Started!

Step 1how to draw a cartoon snowflake step 1

When working on this cartoon snow flake drawing, you ill notice that there is a round, central structure that has various branches coming off of it.

To make things easier, you could use a pencil to draw a central circle shape that will help you with positioning the rest of the lines.

You can then draw the first two branches coming off of this central circle shape. Each one will be rather thick and rounded with a thin base that has several rounded pieces coming off it.

Each of these will be of different sizes, with the ones closest to the base being the widest.

Some of this may seem a bit confusing, but when you see the reference image it should become much clearer!

For now we will draw two of these branches on the left, and then e will draw some smaller curved lines with gaps between them around the circular center.

Step 2 – Now, draw two more brancheshow to draw a cartoon snowflake step 2

Now you will essentially be mirroring what you did in the previous step of our guide on how to draw a cartoon snow flake as we add two more branches to the snow flake.

These ones will go on the right, filling in the gaps that we left between the curved lines around the center.

They will be pretty much identical to the previous branches, only mirrored. Once these are drawn, there will be two more small gaps at the top and bottom of the center that we will fill in soon.

Step 3 – Next, draw another branchhow to draw a cartoon snowflake step 3

We mentioned the gaps left at the center of the cartoon snow flake in the previous step, and we will fill in the bottom one in this next step.

To do this, we will draw another of the branches, only this time it will be extending downward. Other than that, it will take on the same structure of the previous branches.

The trick to drawing a snow flake is to make sure that all the branches are identical and symmetrical, so try your best to have them all looking as similar as possible!

Once this arm has been drawn, we will add the final one in the next step.

Step 4 – Now, draw the final branchhow to draw a cartoon snowflake step 4

You’re doing a great job on this cartoon snow flake drawing so far! In this fourth step, we will finish off the final branch of this drawing.

You know what to do now, as this branch will look identical to all of the previous ones! This branch will of course fill in the final space left at the center of the snow flake.

Once it’s drawn, you can then erase any pencil lines you may have drawn to help you out in the previous step.

That’s all there is to it for this step, and then you’ll be ready for the final details in the next step of the guide!

Step 5 – Add the final details to your drawinghow to draw a cartoon snowflake step 5

This step of our guide on how to draw a cartoon snow flake will be simple, but once the final detail has been added you will be able to personalize the drawing as you wish.

For now, we will be drawing a simple circle at the center of the snow flake.

You could use a drawing compass for this circle if you want it to be perfect, but you could also do it free-hand if you don’t have one handy.

Once it’s finished, you can add your own ideas to finish it off!

If you have the hang of drawing a cartoon snow flake, you could create a background featuring loads of your own snow flake designs to make it look like a beautiful snowfall.

You could also add your own decorative details to this snow flake, so what ideas do you have to finish it off?

Step 6 – Finish off your drawing with colorhow to draw a cartoon snowflake step 6

It’s time to finish off this drawing with your own wonderful details in this step of our guide. In our reference image, you’ll notice that we used various shades of light blues for the snow flake.

This helps to make it look cold and frozen by keeping the colors nice and soft.

You could also use other colors that you may prefer! When you have chosen your colors, you can then decide on the art tools and mediums that you will use to finish off the image.

We think watercolors would be perfect for creating a nice soft look for the picture, but what will you use?

3 More tips to make your cartoon snowflake drawing easy!

Make this unique artwork even easier with these tips for your cartoon snowflake sketch!

If there’s one thing most people know about snowflakes, it’s that they are really complex little things. This can make them hard to draw even when simplified like our drawing of a cartoon snowflake.

If drawing this structure is proving a little difficult, you could simplify it even further.

This could be done by removing some of the smaller branches on the cartoon snowflake or by making the shape less complicated.

Doing this could not only make the drawing easier, but it could also result in a more unique cartoon snowflake of your very own! How else could you go about simplifying it?

If you want to keep the structure of this cartoon snowflake drawing but are having a hard time drawing, you could map it out with a pencil first.

This could also be done if you wish to make the drawing more complex.

One way to do it would be to use a pencil and a ruler. Start out by using your ruler to draw several lines crossing each other, converging at a single point.

Then, you could draw the smaller branches coming off these arms. Once these lines are drawn, you could then create the rounder outlines around these planning lines.

Those final lines could be drawn with your pen, and then all you need to do is erase the pencil lines!

There are plenty of other craft tools and equipment you could use to create your cartoon snowflake sketch. One of the easiest ones to use would be to use a stencil.

Some art and craft stores will sell stencils that are similarly shaped to our cartoon snowflake example. Then, simply use the stencil to draw your own one!

Another idea would be to create snowflakes out of construction paper. You can look up guides online for how to cut out snowflakes by folding the paper in certain ways.

These are just a few out-of-the-box ways you could go about creating a snowflake!
