How to Draw A Cartoon Skateboard – Let’s Get Started!

Step 1

For this first step of this tutorial, we will begin by drawing the wooden body outline of the skateboard. This can actually be a bit trickier than expected, mainly because of the angle the skateboard is at.

This is a step where following the reference image closely will really help you with this shape we are creating!

As shown in the image, the end at the bottom is wider and curls out to the left. This is where the skateboard will curl upwards.

Then, it gets thinner as it gets to the other end, and it will end in a rounded line. You will then be ready for the second step of the guide!

Step 2 – Now, draw some decoration details for this cartoon skateboard

In this second step of our guide on how to draw a cartoon skateboard, we will be adding some decorative elements to the body of the skateboard.

First, we will draw a rim along the inner outline to give the skateboard the appearance of thickness.

Then, we will add the decoration. We used some wavy lines going along the skateboard in order to create a really cool design.

You can go for a similar one, but you could also create your own unique design! Some ideas could include a flame pattern or maybe some simple shapes, but what else can you think of?

Step 3 – Next, add the start of the wheels

Without wheels, a skateboard would just be a fancy piece of wood, so we shall start adding some wheels to your cartoon skateboard drawing in this third step.

We will be adding the wheels to the part of the skateboard that is closest to us as the viewer. Because of this angle, we will only see the inner side of the wheel on the left.

It can be drawn using some curved and rounded lines, and we will also draw the bar that will connect it to the wheel on the other side that we will draw soon.

Step 4 – Now, draw another wheel

Now, we will add another wheel to this side of the skateboard. We will get a much better view of this one, thanks to the angle it is sitting at.

You can draw a circular shape for the outer edge, and then add a smaller one inside of it.

That’s all there is to it for this step, and then we can move on to the fifth one where we shall add some final details to get you ready for the last step!

Step 5 – Add the final details to your cartoon skateboard drawing

This fifth step of our guide on how to draw a cartoon skateboard will be all about finishing off the final details.

That will get you ready for some coloring fun in the final step! The main detail we will be adding here will be small and simple, yet still important.

There is one final wheel to add, and you can draw this with a rounded outline that has a smaller circle inside of it.

It will be smaller than the other wheels because of the perspective, but otherwise it will be identical.

Once you have added this final wheel, you will be ready to add some extra details of your own!

You could change up the decoration on the board, or you could maybe add a cool background to create an interesting setting. It’s up to you, so how will you finish it off?

Step 6 – Finish off your cartoon skateboard drawing with color

In the same way, you can personalize your own one with your color choices.

You could go for some similar colors for your own one, but you could also go for some entirely unique color choices!
