How to Draw Cartoon Llama – Let’s Get Started!
We are depicting a wonderfully fluffy, wooly character in this guide on how to draw a cartoon llama.
The face and smiling mouth will be drawn using some simple smooth, curved lines, and we will also draw the wooly outline for the head, neck and chest.
This wool will be drawn using lots of smaller curved lines to create that fluffy texture. Once you have drawn these areas as they appear in our reference image, we can move on to step 2!
Step 2 – Now, draw some more of the outline
This second part of your cartoon llama drawing will be focused on adding some more of the outline for the woolly neck and body.
Before you draw more of the neck, we will first add a simple ear. This can be drawn as a simple oval shape that has a wavy line across it.
Then, keep extending a bumpy line down from the ear, and then it shall end where the back will go soon.
Finally for this step, we will keep adding the wooly line for the base of the body and the back, and there will be some larger bumps for the start of the legs and tail.
Step 3 – Next, draw the rest of the back and eyes
Continuing with this drawing, we will add the eye and the back for this llama. For the back, we won’t be using a bumpy line as we’ve been using for the rest of the body.
The reason for this is that there will be a smooth saddle over the back which we will draw later.
The eye is drawn as a simple small oval with a black dot inside. There will also be some wavy lines below it and coming off the side.
Step 4 – Now, draw the legs and some extra details
Now it’s time to add the legs and some extra details to your cartoon llama drawing in this fourth step. The legs are quite short, and will come from the bumpy parts you added below the body.
They will be drawn using some smooth, curved lines that each has a small hoof at the bottom. Each hoof will also be divided into two sections with a small vertical line.
Then, we will make this llama look even more wooly by adding some simple small curved lines all throughout the body.
We will then be ready to finish off some final details in the next step of the guide!
Step 5 – Add the final details to your drawing
This step of our guide on how to draw a cartoon llama will see you adding some final touches to the image.
This one will also give you the opportunity to add some extra details of your own to really finish it off!
The final detail that we have for you to add will be a simple saddle onto the back of the llama. This can be drawn using a simple curved line for the outline.
Then, we added a row of small lines coming off the outline, and each one has a small circle at the end of it. We finished off by drawing rows of small dots along the lines going across the saddle.
Once you have drawn this saddle, you can add some of your own fun ideas and extra details! Will you maybe add some more characters to this drawing or perhaps draw a fun background?
Step 6 – Finish off your drawing with color
We will spend this final step of your cartoon llama drawing adding color to your creation. We will use some light browns and beige colors for the wooly fur of the llama to start things off.
You can use darker shades for certain areas in order to show where there is some shading.
Then, for the saddle, we used a darker blue with yellow and black dots to color it in. Once all these colors have been added, you have finished your drawing!
You also don’t necessarily have to go for the same colors we used. They’re there as an example for you to work with, but you could use any other colors you love to color it.
You can also play around with various art tools and mediums, so be sure to have fun experimenting as you finish off this awesome drawing!
