How to Draw Cartoon Eyes – Let’s get Started!
This guide on how to draw cartoon eyes will be full of curvy and rounded shapes, and this first step s no different.
For this step, we shall be drawing two round, curved lines as you can see in the reference image.
They will be thicker on the outer edges and then get a bit thinner on the inner sides. Using the picture provided will help you with the positioning and size that they should be at this stage.
We’re carrying on with some rounded shapes in this part of your cartoon eyes drawing. Using the lines you drew in step 1, carefully draw some round, almost circular lines underneath them.
They should begin from the inner corners of the eyes and then join the top lines a little bit before they end.
In the previous steps, the lines got thinner as they went along, but the lines will be the same thickness for the entirety of this step.
Step 3 – Next, draw some eyebrows for your drawing
An effective way to give your cartoon eyes drawing some personality is to give them some eyebrows to use for expression.
These are made using two curved lines that connect with one another as the ones in our reference image do.
This is just one way that you could draw them, however, and you could change the positioning if you wanted to create some different expressions for your eyes.
You could make them look angry, surprised or concerned just from the positioning of your eyebrows.
Step 4 – Let’s add some irises and pupils
For this step of our guide on how to draw cartoon eyes, we will be adding some elements inside of the eyes.
To start with, draw two circular shapes along the top edge of the eyes. Then, you can draw two circles inside those circles that you just drew.
These will be at the upper left part of each eye, and will represent light shining on the eye.
Finally, draw two more circular shapes with thick lines beginning and ending from the light reflections.
This may sound complicated when you read it, but by following the reference picture it doesn’t have to be difficult!
Step 5 – Next, draw some eyelashes
We shall be adding some personality to your cartoon eyes drawing in this fifth step.
This step should be quite easy for you, as all you have to do is draw in some thick, slightly curved lines onto the top of the eyes that you have drawn in the previous steps.
These eyelashes, while simple, already adds some great personality to your drawing!
Step 6 – Add the final details
This sixth step of our guide on how to draw cartoon eyes will be all about adding some final details to your drawing. First, we shall be coloring the sides of the eyes.
We shall be filling in the triangular space left on the other sides of each eye between the eyeballs and the row of the eyelashes on top.
Simply color in this area to add some definition to your eyes. Then, you can add some other details such as more curved small lines under the eyes for some lower eyelashes and some more small lines around the eyes.
These are the details that we chose to add, but you could add more of your own fun details!
If you’re feeling creative, you could even draw a nose, mouth and ears alongside your cartoon eyes drawing to create a fun face! How do you think you will finish your drawing?
Step 7 – Finish off your cartoon eyes drawing with some color
