How to Draw Bart Simpson – Let’s Get Started!
Step 1
In this first step of our guide on how to draw Bart Simpson, we will be starting with his head. To kick off this process, start with a circle for his first eye.
Then, use a curved line coming off the right-hand side of the eye for his nose. Once you’ve drawn the nose, you can then draw another circular shape coming off the eye and connecting to the nose.
Don’t forget to add some dots into the eyes for his pupils! With the nose and eyes drawn, we can draw the rest of his head.
The next thing will be to draw a line down from the eye on the right and then curve it sharply to the left for his smiling mouth.
Then, draw a line up from the eye that turns into a bunch of pointy lines for the top of his head.
Finally, finish off this step by drawing the back of his head with a curved line for his ear. Connect everything at the bottom of his neck and then you’re ready for step 2!
Step 2 – Next, start drawing his body
Now that you have drawn the head for your Bart Simpson drawing, you can start to draw his body in this next section. First, draw some slightly curved lines coming down from the neck for his chest.
These will then balloon out into some lines for his belly. Then, you can draw some rounded shapes for the sleeves of his shirt.
You can then finish off this step by drawing his pants using some more of those rounded lines. Once you have replicated everything in the reference image, you’re ready to move on!
Step 3 – Draw his arms in this third step
In the third step of our guide on how to draw Bart Simpson we will be drawing his arms.
The arm on the left will be stuck out sideways, as it will be resting on top of his trusty skateboard that we will be drawing later.
Then, the other arm will be bent at his side, and both these arms can be drawn with some curved and rounded lines.
Step 4 – Now, draw the legs for Bart
This part of your Bart Simpson drawing will have you drawing the legs for Bart. the leg on the left will be bent to the side, and the one on the right will be standing straight.
Then you can finish off by drawing some curved lines for the shoes that he is wearing. Then finish off the shoes by drawing two small circles on them and then rims at the base of them.
Once the legs are complete, we can finish off by drawing his skateboard and the final details in the next step.
Step 5 – Finish off the skateboard and final details of the drawing
We will be finishing off the final elements and details in this step of our guide on how to draw Bart Simpson.
We mentioned his skateboard in one of the previous steps, so we will be drawing that in this step.
The skateboard will be drawn with a combination of curved and straight lines for the body of the skateboard that he is leaning on.
Then use some small circles withing circles for the wheels of the skateboard on the side.
Then you’re finished with this drawing and can move to the next step! Before you do that, there are some ideas that you could go with to put your own spin on this drawing.
You could look up some pictures of the rest of the Simpsons family and draw your favorite characters beside Bart.
You could also draw a background to represent your favorite scene from the show behind him. These are just a few ideas you could try, but have fun getting creative with it!
Step 6 – Finish off your Bart Simpson drawing with some color
This is the final step of your Bart Simpson drawing, and for this one you can have some fun coloring in your picture.
Bart has a bright yellow color for his body along with a red shirt and blue pants, so this reference image will show you how to accurately color in Bart.
You could also use some of your own color choices instead as well, and you can have fun getting creative with your color choices!
Then you can decide what art mediums you will use to bring the colors to life. The characters in the show have a bright and vibrant coloring to them, and there are a few mediums you could use for that style.
Using colored pens and paints would be great for that kind of look, but you could also use some more subtle mediums if you prefer!
Bonus: Make Your Very Own Simpsons Comics!
When it comes to different forms of media, it’s hard to think of one that Bart and his family have not featured in. Of course, they have starred in their TV show for many years.
They have also been featured in a successful movie, theme park rides and many other great projects. Did you know that there is also an extensive range of Simpsons comics, though?
The adventures of these characters carry on in these comics, and you could have fun with this Bart Simpson drawing by making your own comics.
It would require you to make some variations on the design, but we know you can do it! First of all, start by thinking of a scenario.
For an example, let’s say that Bart will be playing a prank on his dad Homer. It’s best to make a very rough sketch of your comic idea by using a pencil to make some rough panels and drawings.
These don’t need to be super neat or accurate, but they will show you how much space you will need to fit your comic idea. Then, when you know how many panels you will need you can use a ruler to draw them out.
Then make some rough sketches with your pencil to map out the characters. Maybe one panel could have Bart wondering what prank to pull, and then in the next he can leave a banana peel in a doorway.
Then he could call Homer who would come in and comically slip on the banana peel. Or you could have a twist where Homer avoids the peel, frustrating Bart.
This is a very simple idea, but it shows how you can tell a story in a few panels. What other ideas do you have?
