By the end of this tutorial, you will know everything there is to know about drawing this little guy.
We hope you really enjoy this step-by-step guide on how to draw Baby Yoda in just 6 steps!
How to Draw Baby Yoda – Let’s Get Started!
Step 1
In this first step of our guide on how to draw Baby Yoda, we will begin with the head outline and eyes for this character.
First, let’s start with the eyes. You can draw some rounded lines for the eyes, and they will have pointy tips at the corners. Then, we shall start on the head outline.
For the top of his head, you can use a fairly solid yet slightly bumpy line.
The bottom will be drawn with a few smaller bumpy lines connecting to one another, and the middle bump will serve as his chin.
Finally, we will be drawing his large ears. These will be quite long and pointy, and they will have a slightly bumpy line for the tops of the ears with similarly bumpy lines for the bottom halves.
Once these outlines have all been drawn, we will be ready for step 2!
Step 2 – Now, draw some facial details and the start of his clothes
For the second part of your Baby Yoda drawing, we will be drawing some facial details along with the collar of his clothes.
First, we will be drawing some circular shapes inside the outlines of his eyes. These will serve as his pupils, and you can also draw some curved lines above the eyes for his eyebrows.
Next, some simple lines will be used for his nose and mouth, and these will finish off his cute facial expression.
With his face drawn, you can then draw some shapes inside of the ear outlines for the inner ear sections.
Before we proceed to step 3, you can use some more curved lines to create the thick collar beneath his head.
Step 3 – Draw some more of his clothing
The next few steps of this guide on how to draw Baby Yoda will be focused on drawing his body and the clothes he is wearing.
For now, we will be drawing some vertical lines that are very slightly wavy. His clothes are comprised of one piece of material that covers his whole body, so these crease lines will be quite long.
The spaces where his arms will be going will be left blank for now, and we will draw his sleeves in soon enough. When you’re happy with how it looks, we can move on to step 4.
Step 4 – Next, draw the sleeves of his clothes
Continuing with this Baby Yoda drawing, the next part we will be adding will be his sleeves.
These sleeves will be fairly short and thick, and they can be drawn using some slightly bumpy lines to make them look as if they’re made of fabric.
They will also have a rather thick, rounded rim at the ends of each one.
Finally, draw his pointy fingers with long nails at the ends poking out of the sleeves. In the next step of the guide, we will then focus on some of the final details that will really finish off this portrayal.
Step 5 – Add the final details to your Baby Yoda drawing
This picture is already looking great, and in this step of our guide on how to draw Baby Yoda, we will make it look even better with some small details!
First, we will be adding some curved lines to the interior of his clothing, as these will make them look more creased.
Despite his babyish appearance, he is still quite wrinkly, and we will represent this as well.
You can do this by drawing smaller curved lines on his forehead between his eyes, and once those are drawn you’ll be ready for the final step!
Before you move on, you could also add some aspects of your own. One idea would be to draw a background to show off your favorite Baby Yoda moment. What else can you think of to finish it off?
Step 6 – Finish off your Baby Yoda drawing with color
Now you’re ready to finish off your Baby Yoda drawing with some colors! In our reference image, we used some lighter greens for his skin while using a combination of greens and browns for his clothing.
These colors help to create an accurate portrayal of how he appears in the show, but you could also use different colors of your own choosing instead!
What colors and art mediums do you think would suit this adorable picture of Baby Yoda?
