How to Draw A Dog Face – Let’s get Started!
Step 1
In step 1 of our guide on how to draw a dog face, we will start with the outline of the face.
To draw this, you’ll have a curved line for the top of the face, and then two curved lines that will form the dog’s muzzle.
Once you have it looking like the example in our reference image, you’re ready for step 2!
Step 2 – Draw the bottom of the dog’s mouth
Now that you have the outline of the face drawn, we will start to add more to it.
For this step, you can draw a bottom for the mouth of your dog face drawing, this should be pretty simple to do, as you need only draw a curved line under the muzzle as it appears in the image.
Step 3 – Next, give your dog face drawing some ears
Your cute dog needs some ears, so let’s add some for this part of our guide on how to draw a dog face!
Our dog is going to have some big, floppy ears, and as you can see in the reference picture they start from near the top of the head.
They extend all the way down the head, and you could make them even a bit longer and floppier if you want to!
Step 4 – Now, draw some eyes for your dog
We’ll be drawing some eyes for your dog face drawing in this step. The design that we have for the eyes is made of some ovals within ovals to give him some big eyes.
Then, draw some small circles inside the inner ovals to create a glint in the eyes. Finally, draw some lines under and over the face for some extra wrinkly detail.
You could also change the eye design to be simpler, bigger or smaller based on how you would like your dog to look!
Step 5 – Next, draw a nose and some face details
Your dog face drawing is already looking so great! In the next few steps, we will add some final details to bring it all together.
The main feature of this step is to give your dog a big nose! To do this, you can simply draw an oval shape below the eyes.
Once you have a nose that you’re happy with, you can draw some extra lines to add more detail to the face. These can go at the top of the face and on the bottom part of the mouth.
Step 6 – Draw some final details
We will work on adding some final details in this step of our guide on how to draw a dog face. The details that we have added are a line coming down from the nose to form the muzzle of your dog’s face.
Finally, we drew three dots on each cheek of the face to create some whiskers.
These are the details that we would add, but you can take it even further with some extra elements of your own!
You could draw a collar for your dog, create a background or even draw a body to go with your dog’s face.

Dogs can come in all manner of different colors across their many different breeds. To finish off your drawing, you get to decide what color this cute dog would be!
We used a brown color scheme for our example, but you should let your creativity run wild for this step.
If you drew a background or some other elements for your drawing, then you can have fun coloring those in as well.
Maybe you could color in this dog to look like a dog you have owned before!
