How to Draw A Crown – Let’s get Started!
Step 1
In this first step of our guide on how to draw a crown, we will be starting small. To begin, simply draw two sharply curved lines with a round shape at their tip.
This will be the first part of the rim of your crown drawing, and we will be building on to it in future steps.
Step 2 – Continue drawing onto the rim and sides of the crown
For this part of your crown drawing, we will continue to add to the part of the crown that you started in step one.
You can draw in more of the rim of the crown, yet have it slope down slightly as it goes. Then, you can create the sides of your crown using some lines that curve in and then outwards.
Once you have it looking as it does in the reference image, we can move on to step 3!
Step 3 – Next, draw a base for your crown
In step 3 of our guide on how to draw a crown, we shall draw a base for your crown.
Crowns often have a band at the base that has a furry texture to them, so that’s the base that we will be using for your crown.
Simply draw a smooth line between the two sides of the crown to begin with. Then, using a more jagged line to represent the furry texture, draw the rest of the base onto the crown.
Try to refer to the reference image closely so that you can get an idea of the angle the lines should be at.
Step 4 – Now, we will draw some sections on the crown
We will be adding some section detail to your crown drawing in this step.
To do this, we shall be using some sharp lines to form some triangular shapes coming down from the divides between the tips of the crown.
These touches will help to give your crown drawing a bit more depth.
Step 5 – Next, draw some decorations for your crown
This step of our guide on how to draw a crown will be a fun one, as you get to show your creativity in this step! Every crown needs some fancy decorations, so we shall be adding some for this step.
We have shown just one way that you could decorate your crown in our reference image, but you feel free to decorate it in a way that you love!
When it comes to crowns, the more flashy it is the better! You should draw in as many diamonds, precious stones and other details as you like to really make this a fancy crown.

Before we move on to coloring in your crown drawing, you can draw some extra details to give it an even more dynamic look.
We used some lines on the tips of the crown and used some on the interior as well to give it a bit more texture.
You could also draw in your own fun details to really bring this crown to life! Perhaps you could draw in lots of small lines to the furry base of the crown to give it more texture.
Or, you could draw in more sections of the crown to build it up even more, perhaps by adding more parts to the rim.

You’re one step away from finishing this drawing, and in that final step we will go over some ways you can bring some color to your drawing.
Before we do that, we wanted to go over some more unusual ideas you can use to add to or color your crown drawing before you commit to some more conventional coloring methods.
First of all, you could begin by choosing a theme for your drawing. For example, maybe this crown could belong to an underwater mermaid queen.
In that case, you could maybe cover the crown with fish scales, barnacles and other thematic details. If you wanted the crown to have this theme, you could use specific tools to achieve it.
Sequins or even sections of craft paper could be used to make the scales, and you could stick beads and other crafts to make the jewels in the crown.

Crowns aren’t known for being subtle, so for the colors you could really let loose with your favorite bright colors!
I think that using a bright yellow for the metal parts of the crown would look great, and if you have some shiny gold paints that would be even better!
Then, I think you could use some amazingly vibrant colors for the jewel and decorative inlays of the crown.
This is definitely an image that you could have a lot of fun experimenting with different art mediums.
I would use some acrylic paints and colored pens for this crown myself, but any mediums you use will bring something special to it.
