How to Draw A Cartoon Cloud – Let’s get Started!
Most clouds are very puffy and bumpy, so you can imagine that we would be using a lot of curved and rounded lines to depict this cartoon cloud.
For now, we shall focus on the left-hand side of the cloud, and we will begin with the outline. This will consist of several bumpy lines, with the one on the far left being the biggest.
Two smaller ones will connect to this larger line to finish off this side of the cloud.
Once this side is drawn, we can move on to the second step of the guide to keep building onto this wonderful cartoon cloud!
Step 2 – Draw some inner details for the cloud
We will be adding more to the outline soon, but first we will add some inner line details in this step of our guide on how to draw a cartoon cloud!
This step should be rather easy to do, but even though these details will be simple they will help to make this cloud look like it is fuller with more dimension.
Simply add some smaller curved lines inside the cloud interior. To keep things consistent, we will have their curved edges facing to the left.
That’s all we will be adding for now, and then we can keep extending the outlines in the following steps.
Step 3 – Add the base of the cloud
In this third part of your cartoon cloud drawing, we will be extending the outline for the base of the cloud.
As with the start of the outline from step one, this will consist of some small, rounded lines that connect to one another. Specifically, there will be two larger ones with a much smaller one between them.
These curved lines will help to make the cloud look fluffier and more complete, but we’re not done yet! Let’s move to step 4 so that we can add even more to this cloud.
Step 4 – Now, keep extending the outline of this cartoon cloud
This cartoon cloud is already looking great! In this step, we will extend the outline to form the right-hand side of the cloud.
To do this, we will be adding a single bumpy line connecting to the base, but this will be quite a large one.
Then, we will start to add some of the inner details by drawing a small curved line inside the interior. Because it’s on the opposite edge, this one will have its curved side facing the right.
There will be one space left in the outline, but we will fill it in the next step!
Step 5 – Finish off the outline of this cartoon cloud
Before we move to the final steps of this guide on how to draw a cartoon cloud, we will first finish the outline.
That means filling in the empty space that was left last time. To fill this spot, we will be adding two medium-sized, curved lines over the other edges.
The reference image will show you how you can position these!
When drawing this cartoon cloud outline, remember that you could change up some of the details for your own unique variation if you like.
Then, we shall be ready to add some final touches and details in the next step.
Step 6 – Now, finish off the final details
You’re almost ready to finish off this cartoon cloud drawing with some color, but first we will finish it off with some smaller touches and details.
This will also be a step where you can add some fun extras of your own!
First, we will add some smaller curved lines to the interior of the cloud. Most of these will go at the points where the curved lines of the outlines meet.
Then, you’re ready to add some details! There are loads of fun options you could go for here. One fun idea would be to draw a face onto it.
What kind of expression do you think this cloud would have? You could also add a background or have rain falling from the cloud for a few more ideas!
Step 7 – Finish off your cartoon cloud drawing with some color
In this seventh and final step, we will bring this drawing to life with some color! In our reference image, we showed you just one way that you could color this cartoon cloud.
We used various shades of grey to make this look like the kind of cloud you would see when rain is on the way.
There are other ways to color it, though! You could make it white and puffy or make it even darker to make it look like a storm cloud.
What colors and mediums will you choose to finish this drawing?
