So get ready to replicate the beauty of nature as we begin this step-by-step guide on how to draw cartoon flowers in just 6 easy steps!
How to Draw Cartoon Flowers – Let’s Get Started!
Step 1
For this cartoon flowers drawing, we will be drawing the flowers arranged in a bouquet tied with a pretty ribbon. We will begin with this ribbon in the first step of the guide!
To begin, we will draw a small rounded shape for the center of the ribbon. Then, we will add two large, rounded bows onto the side.
These will be drawn using some rounded shapes that extend to the sides.
The bow on the right will have a small gap at the upper right-hand side where some flower details will overlap later.
Then, we will draw two strands of ribbon coming down from the bow. Finally, draw some straight lines fanning out from a single point for the stems of the flowers we will start drawing soon.
Step 2 – Now, draw the first flowers
Now it’s time to start adding some of the flowers themselves in this step of our guide on how to draw cartoon flowers.
We will be drawing a few different kinds of flowers in this guide, but these ones will be rather large and bold.
There will be two of these flowers, and although they have the same shape, they will be of different sizes.
The one on the left will be about half the size of the one on the right, and each one will have a small circle at the center.
Be sure to add some more straight stems between the flowers and the bow, and then we can proceed!
Step 3 – Next, draw some more flowers and details
This step will focus on adding another flower to the ensemble while also adding some details to the flowers you have drawn already.
Let’s focus on these details first. To add these details, you can draw some slightly curved leaves coming off of the flower on the right. These leaves will all have a curved line in the center.
Then, we will add a new type of flower. This one will have a slightly larger circle at its center, and then there will be some big petals with bumpy edges attached to it.
Add some simple lines onto the petals, and then we can continue.
Step 4 – Now, draw some more details and leaves
You will be adding some smaller details and additions to your cartoon flowers drawing in this step.
First, we will add some lines to the center of the larger flower on the right that you drew earlier. Then, we will be adding some various leaves and smaller plants.
On the right, there will be a curved line with symmetrical round leaves poking off. On the left, we will have some thinner leaves on a stem.
Finally, on this side we will also add another curved line that has smaller lines branching off.
Each of these smaller lines will have a circle at the end, and then we can move on to some final details in the next step!
Step 5 – Add the final details to your drawing
This fifth step of our guide on how to draw cartoon flowers will focus on adding some final details and elements to finish it off nicely.
First, we will draw another branch of small leaves extending up from the center of the arrangement.
You can also add another smaller branch that has those round shapes at the end of each line coming off of it.
Once these are added, you’re ready for some colors in the final step! Before you move on to that part, you can also add some more details of your own.
If you have a favorite type of flower that isn’t shown here, you could add it to the bouquet! Adding a background is another fun way to keep this going, so how will you finish this off?
Step 6 – Finish off your drawing with color
Color is an important part of any representation of flowers, so now you get to finish off this creation with some amazing colors!
We showed you one way you could color this image in our example, but these colors are just one suggestion.
We went with a more muted, downplayed set of colors for this bouquet, and if you wanted a similar look then you could use some watercolors or colored pencils.
For brighter, more vibrant colors, acrylic paints or colored markers may be your best bet. It’s up to you now, so be sure to let your creativity flow as you create your stunning drawing!
