How to Draw A Panda Bear – Let’s Get Started!
Step 1
To begin this guide on how to draw a panda bear, we will first draw the head outline of this bear. To do this, we will use some curved likes for the sides of the bear’s head.
The top of the head will also be drawn with some curved lines, but there will be some small, sharp tufts of hair poking off.
To finish off the outline, we will draw the ears. These will be rather round, and they will be drawn with a jagged outline to make them look nice and furry.
Finally for this step, draw some small, flat shapes for the eyebrows of this panda bear. Once all of these elements have been drawn, you can move on to the second part of the guide!
Step 2 – Now, draw the arm and the bamboo it is eating
When it comes to their diet, panda bears don’t really like trying new things!
They will eat bamboo almost exclusively, and we shall draw a tasty stick of bamboo for your panda bear drawing in this step.
First, use some curved outlines for the arm of the bear, and then draw some smaller rounded lines inside the arm outline for the bear’s hand. This hand will then be holding the stick of bamboo.
This will be drawn as a long, thin stick, and there will be several leaves sticking off of it. These leaves will be long, thin and pointy and will grow in small clumps.
Then you’ll be ready for step 3 of the guide!
Step 3 – Draw some facial details and another arm
This third step of our guide on how to draw a panda bear will see you finishing up some facial details for the bear as well as adding another arm.
First, draw a flat rounded shape for the nose of the panda bear, and then extend a smiling mouth out from beneath it.
Then, draw two eyes using some circles, and then you can add some large rounded shapes around them for the facial markings.
Add a few more small line details to the face, and then you can extend the arm of the panda bear down from the shoulder before moving on.
Step 4 – Next, draw more of the body and legs
Before we add the final details to this panda bear drawing, we will first start the body of the bear as well as adding the first leg.
The panda bear will be sitting down while it enjoys its meal, so you can draw the body using some rounded lines.
Finally, add the first leg tucked in underneath the arm, and then we can move on to those final details!
Step 5 – Add the final details to your panda bear drawing
Now you are ready to finish off the final details we have prepared in this guide on how to draw a panda bear!
First, draw a small rounded shape onto the nose of the panda bear to make it look shiny. Then, you can finish off by drawing the foot on the left.
Because of the angle, we will be seeing the underside of the foot. The underside will have some round shapes drawn on it for the padding, and there will be some sharp claws poking off the end.
Once you have finished these final details, you could add even more of your own! Perhaps you could draw a great background to show what kind of setting this panda bear is in.
What kind of background can you think of for this adorable bear?
Step 6 – Finish off your panda bear drawing with color
If you’ve ever seen a panda bear before you’ll know that they’re hardly the most colorful creatures on the planet. In fact, they’re well known for their striking black and white color scheme.
We went with this color scheme in our reference image, but we found a few ways to add some color variety to the image!
By working in some lighter shades of greys you can create a more dynamic image.
For some splashes of color, we also used some bright greens for the bamboo it is eating, and then we used some pink shades for the bottom of its foot.
You could take a similar approach for your own panda bear, but you could also create a more stylistic approach by using your favorite bright colors!
3 More tips to make your panda bear drawing easy!
Make this panda bear sketch even easier to draw with the help of these easy tips!
When creating this drawing of a panda bear, we went with a fun cartoon style. Even though it is cartoony, it is still a highly detailed drawing, and this can make things difficult.
You could not only make it easier but potentially even cuter if you simplify the details a bit. This could be done by using simpler shapes with fewer line and texture details on the panda bear.
By using a simpler cartoon style, you could also end up with a drawing that you may prefer! What kind of art style could you use for this drawing?
If you wish to maintain the design of this panda bear drawing, then you could break it down into simpler shapes using a pencil.
The panda bear has a very rounded design, so start by using your pencil to draw several circles connected to one another.
Then, you can add simple outlines for the limbs. Once these are done, you can then start adding some more of the finer details.
This can be done in layers until the panda bear looks just like our example. Once you are happy with how it looks, you can then draw the final lines with your pen and then erase all of your pencil lines.
Finally, even though this panda bear sketch isn’t done in a super realistic style, you could still use pictures of real panda bears to aid you as you draw.
When looking up pictures of real panda bears, try to find ones that are posed similarly to the one we have in our example. Even if they aren’t posed identically, these photos will still help.
Try to focus on the elements of the drawing you struggle the most with. So, if you find drawing the face the most difficult, then try to look closely at the faces in your photo references.
These photos will show you how you can make your panda bear even more lifelike!
