Hospitals are one of the most important institutions that we have in modern society.
Sickness and injuries are unfortunately an integral part of human life, but luckily we have hospitals with skilled doctors, nurses, surgeons and other practitioners to help.
Hospitals can come in many shapes, sizes and designs, but no matter what form they take they are equally important. Learning how to draw a hospital is a great way to honor this vital institution.
This may seem like it would be hard to do, but this tutorial is here to show you that it doesn’t have to be!

How to Draw A Hospital – Let’s Get Started!
Step 1
To get this guide on how to draw a hospital started, we will begin with the front of the building. In doing this, the first thing we will draw will not be a part of the hospital itself!
Instead, we will be drawing an ambulance, as this vehicle is very important to the operation of the hospital.
First, you may want to grab a ruler, as it will make drawing not only the ambulance but also the rest of the hospital much easier.
For the ambulance, start with two circles with smaller circles inside each one. Then, use your ruler to draw the square shape of the ambulance.
Don’t forget to add a blocky cross and a siren to the top! Finish off this step by drawing some straight, horizontal lines for the base of the hospital and also add a small pot plant near the left-hand side.
Step 2 – Next, draw some more of the hospital in this step
Continuing on with this hospital drawing, you can now start adding some more shapes and details. First, you can draw another pot plant near to the other one that you drew.
The next thing that we will be adding is two large, square shapes for the front of the hospital. The top lines of these squares will also extend a bit further than the sides of them.
The reference image will show you what we mean by this!
Finally for this step, you can draw a nice tree on the right-hand side of the scene, and then we can move on to step 3.
Step 3 – Now add some more of the building
It may look like we are adding a lot in this step of our guide on how to draw a hospital, and while that is true it won’t be as complicated as it looks!
For this part, your ruler and the reference image will definitely be your most useful tools.
Using the reference image to help you, we will be adding some square and rectangle shapes onto the ones that you have started already. Try to position them in the same ways that we did for ours, if you can.
Finally, draw a ridge on top for the roof of the hospital, and then we can proceed.
Step 4 – Draw some more details for the front of the hospital
Your hospital drawing is really taking shape now! As we continue, we will be drawing even more shapes using your ruler.
As shown in our reference image, you can start drawing some thin rectangular shapes onto the left-hand side of the hospital.
Then, we will be drawing a large rectangular shape onto the central section of the hospital. This shape will also have some lines drawn across it.
Finally, finish off by drawing some small squares and rectangles onto the right-hand side of the hospital, and then add some puffy clouds above it.
Then we will be ready for some final touches in the next one.
Step 5 – Add the final touches for your hospital drawing
Our fifth step of this guide on how to draw a hospital will see you adding the final elements and touches.
First, we will be drawing a helicopter using some rounded and straight lines on the top left side of the hospital.
The other details will be composed of some more straight lines onto the shapes of the hospital, and we shall also add another thick gross inside of a circle on the front of the hospital.
Be sure to also add any other small extra details or elements that you may want for this image! What can you think of to add to the picture?
Step 6 – Finish off your hospital drawing with some color
Now it’s time to finish off your hospital drawing with some color! In our reference image, we showed you one way that you could color this picture in.
We went with some cooler blues and greens for the majority of the hospital facade, but we also incorporated some greys for some parts.
For a splash of warmer colors, we also used some reds for the medical crosses and the helicopter on the roof.
These are the colors we went for, but while you could use similar shades you can also use some unique color choices of your own!
