If You Were A Parrot

I randomly picked up this book at the library, starting flipping through it and instantly discovered it’s awesomeness!!

If You Were a Parrot by Katherine Rawson, Illustrated by Sherry Rogers

If You Were A Parrot is a whimsical book that has the child imagining what life would be like if he or she were a pet parrot. Join the parrot as it goes through its daily routine of climbing, chewing, eating, bathing, and finally, snuggling down for the night after a long day of parrot fun. Not only is it a fun book, but it has tons of great info for learning about parrots!

One of the BEST parts about this book is that at the end, the author has a pattern and instructions for making your very own Parrot beak. What a perfect way for your kids to get into the story by pretending to be a parrot.

All you need to make the beak is some cardstock paper, scissors, a hole punch and two rubber bands. I trimmed the ends of my toddler’s to make it smaller so it would fit her better, but the pattern was perfect for my 6 and 8 year old.

After my kids played parrots for a couple hours we sat down for a writing activity to go along with this book. Stop by tomorrow to see!!  🙂
