Crafting with Styrofoam cups is quickly becoming a favorite for me! With only a few dollars you can buy a big pack of them and have all sorts of crafting fun. Since we have been in full Thanksgiving craft mode the last few weeks I was excited to whip out the Styrofoam cups again and we made this cute Pilgram Hat Kid Craft. It’s a simple and fun Thanksgiving craft that would be great combined with a favorite Thanksgiving children’s story.
Supplies you will need:
- small Styrofoam cup
- black paint
- paintbrush
- black, white and yellow cardstock paper
- Glue Dots
- old CD (for tracing)
- scissors
- glue
Directions:
1. Paint outside of Styrofoam cup with black paint
Start by painting the outside of your Styrofoam cup with black paint and set it aside to dry completely.
2. Cut out black circle, white strip and a yellow square
Trace a CD onto your black cardstock paper and cut it out. You’ll also need a white strip of white cardstock paper and a yellow square with the middle of it cut out.
3. Glue white strip and yellow buckle onto the cup
When your cup has dried, use Glue Dots to glue the white strip around the top lip of the cup. You could also use tape to attach the white strip to the cup. Then glue your yellow buckle onto the cup.
4. Glue the cup onto black cardstock circle
Finish your pilgrim hat by adding glue around the top of the cup and gluing it onto your black cardstock circle.
These would also make adorable Thanksgiving table place cards. Use a chalk marker to write names on the pilgrim hats and place them around your Thanksgiving table.
