I was so excited with how engaged my elementary-age boys were with this Magazine Scraps Santa Collage. Sometimes I feel like I fall short in challenging them with the crafts we create, but this one really stretched their minds and creativity and for that I consider it a huge success. The best part, we had all the items on hand to make it.

Supplies needed:
- 12 inch x 12 inch cardstock paper (you could use 8 1/2″ x 11″ if you want to)
- old magazines
- scissors
- glue stick
- black marker
Tutorial:
1. Cut out paper pieces
Simply cut or tear out different pieces from an old magazine to create a Santa. You can see a close up of how I layered my pieces together below to create my Santa.
2. Make face details
Get creative…Make rosy cheeks, glasses, anything that will give your Santa character. I tore all my pieces from the magazine pages but my boys felt it was easier to use scissors to cut all their pieces.

3. Draw pupils
We used a black marker to add the pupils in our eyes.
Here is my eight year old’s artwork.

My six year old decided to make an entire Santa, not just his face. It turned out so cute!

If you have elementary-age children, this craft will be a sure hit and trust me, even you will enjoy creating your own Santa!
