Doily Lion Kids Craft

Once the new year starts I love getting out the paper doilies. They seem to go hand in hand with Valentine’s Day but I also love getting creative and coming up with different ways to use them for crafting. This year the Kids Craft Stars are hosting a monthly craft challenge. Each month we will incorporate a different craft medium into a simple kid craft tutorial. It is our hope to encourage you to have fun getting crafty with the little ones in your life and to provide you with a fun resource for kids craft ideas. This month is all about doilies and boy oh boy are we excited about this adorable doily lion kids craft that we made! Make sure to check out more doily crafts at the end of this post and see our craft challenge schedule for the year so you can participate too.

HOW TO MAKE A DOILY LION KIDS CRAFT

Supplies:

  • 10-inch round paper doily
  • orange Do A Dot Art Marker
  • yellow and brown cardstock paper
  • googly eyes
  • yellow yarn
  • black marker
  • scissors
  • glue

Directions:

1. Gather your supplies. Cut a circle about 5 to 6-inches in diameter out of your yellow cardstock paper. We traced a cereal bowl for our circle shape. Also, cut a nose out of your brown cardstock paper.

2. Use your orange Do-a-Dot Marker to make dots of orange around your doily. Make sure to have a place mat or sheet of paper underneath your doily while you do this to protect the surface of your table since the doily has holes in it.

3. Glue your yellow circle into the middle of your doily. Now glue your googly eyes and nose onto your yellow circle.

4. Use your black marker to draw a smile onto your lion.

5. Finish your doily lion kid craft by cutting 6 small strips of yellow yarn and gluing them onto your lion for whiskers.
