Supplies needed:
- light blue cardstock paper (we used 12-inch by 12-inch)
- brown cardstock paper
- packing peanuts (Ours looked similar to THESE but any type should do.)
- green paint
- sponge brush
- red tissue paper
- scissors
- school glue
- Elmer’s X-TREME School Glue Stick
Tutorial:
1. Make a tree
Start by cutting a tree trunk out of your brown cardstock paper and gluing it onto your light blue cardstock paper. Then cut small strips of brown paper and glue them on top of your tree to make branches and limbs.
2. Glue packing peanuts to the branches
Glue packing peanuts all over your tree branches with your X-TREME School Glue Stick. With the type of peanuts we used, it was important not to get them too wet or they started to shrivel so the X-TREME School Glue Stick worked perfect. You might be able to use regular school glue if you use a different type of packing peanut.
3. Paint your packing peanuts
Dab all of your packing peanuts with green paint using your sponge brush. The sponge brush worked great since we didn’t want to saturate the peanuts too much with paint.
4. Decorate with red
Finish your apple tree craft by crumpling up red tissue paper squares and gluing them onto your tree as apples.
