They are also commonly portrayed in art and other depictions. In this guide on how to draw a cartoon bull, we will be portraying a softer side of this powerful creature for you to draw.
Throughout the steps of this guide, you will see just how fun and easy depicting one of these animals can be!
With that, we will begin this step-by-step guide on how to draw a cartoon bull in just 6 fun and easy steps! We really hope you enjoy working with us on this awesome picture.
How to Draw A Cartoon Bull – Let’s Get Started!
Step 1
With this first part of your cartoon bull drawing, we will begin with the head and face outline for this guy.
As you can see in our first reference image, it will look a bit weird for now, but it will start to make sense as we proceed through the guide!
For now, use a curved vertical line for the face. Then, we will use several smaller curved lines for the portions that the horns extend from as well as the top of the head.
Then, we can add the horns themselves. The horns are quite curved and twisty, as you can see in our example.
They will extend from those portions we drew previously, and you could also go for a different shape, size or orientation for them if you prefer.
Then, it’s on to step 2!
Step 2 – Now, draw some facial features and more outlines
Now that you have the first outlines for the head of this cartoon bull drawing, we can now start adding some facial features while also adding to the outline of the head.
First, we will draw the eyes. As we mentioned earlier, bulls can be a bit intimidating in real life, but this one will look rather friendly!
The eyes will be drawn as some relatively large oval shapes connecting to one another. Then, draw a small circle inside each one with an even smaller black dot within.
Next, we will draw the muzzle for this bull. Add some thick nostrils with lines around them, and then add the curved, smiling mouth.
Finish off with the outline for the jaw, and then we can proceed!
Step 3 – Next, finish off the head and add the back
This third part will see you finishing off the head outline while also beginning to draw the body! First, we will draw an ear coming off the side of the head.
This will also have a curved outline, and there will be another thin, curved shape inside for the inner ear. There will also be another rounded ear coming off the right-hand side of the head.
Then, for the first portion of the back we will use a large, curved line with another small one coming off of it. That’s all there is to it for this step, so let’s move to step 4.
Step 4 – Now, draw some more of the body
We will be adding even more of the body for this cartoon bull drawing in this fourth step. First, use another curved line that connects to the humped back that you drew previously.
This next curved line will be vertical and will serve as the backside of the bull. We will also add a tail to this portion, and this will have a curved shape to it with a tuft of fur at the end.
Add some more curved lines for the chest and belly, but be sure to leave spaces where we did, as some legs will go there soon! Then, we will be ready for those final details in the next step.
Step 5 – Add the final details to your cartoon bull drawing
This step of our guide on how to draw a cartoon bull will be all about finishing off the drawing itself so you can color your creation in the final step!
First, we will use some short, curved lines for the legs of this bull. They will fill in the spaces that we left on the underside of the bull in the previous step.
Then, we will add some hooves to the ends of the legs. These hooves have a rounded shape with flat bases and a sharp separation at the center of each one.
Once you have added the legs, you’re ready for the final step! Before proceeding, you can also add some extra details of your own.
You could draw a fun background and even add some more cool farm animals for one idea, but what else can you think of?
Step 6 – Finish off your drawing with color
Now it’s time to finish off this cartoon bull drawing with some color! Bulls aren’t known for being particularly colorful in real life, and we went with this muted approach in our reference image.
We used shades of brown for the fur of this bull, and then used some dark greys for the hooves.
You could also use similar colors if you like this more realistic look, but you could also give this bull a color makeover!
There are plenty of other colors you could go for while keeping it realistic, but you can also go for more stylistic colors if you prefer. How will you color this awesome cartoon bull?
