SHEEP PRINTABLE SIGHT WORDS GAME

My preschooler and I are having so much fun with Baa Baa Black Sheep this week! We’ve learned the traditional nursery rhyme, read a darling book (affiliate link) with another fun rendition of the nursery rhyme, made a super cute sheep craft, and we’ve been finding fun ways to incorporate all things sheep into learning.

Instructions for using the Sheep Sight Words Game

Print off your sheep printable sight words game. I made two versions, one filled with the sight words I am currently working on with my preschooler or you can print off a blank version to customize it how you wish.

NOTE: The printable has two pages with different words. I set it up this way so we could split the activity up into two different days. You may choose to only use one page though.

There is a variety of different ways you can use the printable. Here are two different ways we enjoyed using them this week.

USING A FOAM DICE with the Sight Words Game:

1. Prep for the activity by writing the coordinating sight words onto your black Avery round labels with your white chalk marker and cover your large foam dice with the coordinating sight words.

2. Have your child roll the dice and read the sight word. Find that sight word on the sticker sheet, peel it off and place it on the same word on the printable.

Continue rolling the dice and covering the sight words on the printable until they are all covered. If you roll the dice and have no more of that particular word, simply roll the dice again.

4. Once all of the words are covered on the printable, review the words one more time.

Using the Sight Words Printable as a Simple Matching Game:

1. Prep for the activity by writing the coordinating sight words onto your black Avery round labels with your white chalk marker.

2. Have your child peel off one of the stickers and read the sight word. Then have them find the matching word on the printable and place the sticker on top of it.

1. The awesome part about the Avery labels is that they are removable so if you make a mistake, you can simply remove the sticker and try again.

2. To use this as part of a learning center in a classroom setting, try laminating the printables for long term use and use a washable or dry erase black marker to fill in or mark an “X” on the words. Then when it’s time for rotation, the printable can be easily erased for the next student to use.

3. Not ready for sight words? Use the blank printable to work on matching letters or numbers.
